Beyonce Celebrates 4th Consecutive #1 Album (Interview)

Despite the less than enthusiastic sales of her first single ‘Run the World (Girls)’ from her recently released album, ’4,’ Beyonce once again proved that her reign won’t let up, as she debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.

According to Neilsen SoundScan reports, her fourth studio album sold 310,000 copies in its first week and Beyonce is celebrating the #1 album throughtout the entire world, including the U.K. where it sold 89,000. In addition, her heavy promo in the UK leading up to her album’s release has paid off as she currently has six singles in the Top 75.

As impressive as the top earning sales of ’4′ are, the album is the lowest opening week of any of her solo career. Her 2003 hit ‘Dangerously in Love’ sold 317,000; the 2006 album ‘B’Day’ topped the charts at 541,000 sold; and in 2008 ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ debuted at 482,000.

She covered an array of topics including why she chooses to not talk about her relationship with Jay-z, being proud of the ‘Diva’ label and whether she would retire at age 30. She also detailed a time her mother smacked her in a store in front of people to teach her a lesson on humility.

On her relationship with Jay-Z:
Jay and I have kind of made a decision to be known for our music and not our relationships or scandals. It’s hard sometimes because I’m like” Okay, I can’t talk about him” but he’s amazing.

Beyonce Covers Cleo Magazine (Interview)

Recently, Beyonce’s Facebook page was updated with a quote from her describing her upcoming July 28 release, 4, as well as a quote from Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds:

“The album is definitely an evolution. It’s bolder than the music on my previous albums because I’m bolder. The more mature I become and the more life experiences I have, the more I have to talk about. I really focused on songs being classics, songs that would last, songs that I could sing when I’m 40 and when I’m 60.” – Beyonce

Babyface worked on Beyonce’s upcoming disc and assisted in writing her next single, “Best I Never Had”.
